Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Changsha, confused yet? I am now sitting in Chiang Mai International Airport waiting to my flight to Changsha, Hunan Proviance, China. I think the names should start to get less confusing from here on out. My only problem is I can't take an airplane picture from out of the windows in the airport.

I have finished up my time in Bangkok and am waiting for my flight yo Chiang Rai, a city in Norther Thailand. It should be a nice change form the fancy malls of Bangkok. I do plan to do a South East Asia retrospective when I return to China.
Even with some internet problems in the previous days that ment I couldn't post, I have made it to Bangkok, Thailand. I am now planning out my day and hope to uodate more regularly. I also would like to do a South East Asia Retrospective at some point, since the histories, cultures, modern political situation, and even languages of South East Asia are very intertwined.
It is time for Jared In China to go on a vacation I think I deserve. Thanks to my massive winter break and Asian budget airlines Jared in China will now become Jared in China in Other Places... I did not think that name through when I started this blog... The first leg of my extra adventure is Hanoi, Vietnam. I am now sitting in a coffee bar in Shanghai's Pudong Airport (PVG) waiting for Vietnam Airlines to let me check my bag, so it goes. Vietnam should be cool, I have heard good things about the food (a theme that is very common with my blog).
I started my study abroad study abroad from The Shanghai Maglev train. If you need to go to PVG this is an experance I might skip. It is not that maglev trains aren't rad, because they are, but because it is way to hard to get to the Shanghai Maglev to be a useful method of transportation for most. I spend about an hour trying to get my luggage through the subway system, and experance I also can't recommend, for about 7 minutes on the maglev train itself. I can confirm though, the train goes 301km/h and the ride is smooth. I don't believe there is too much of a cost or time savings between the subway to maglev and the taxis. If the Municipality built a longer line to connect the airports and some of the big hotel areas, I could recommend it, but until then it is a skip. Also, if you hear anyone tell you that China will take over the world because maglev, tell them for me that they are dead wrong. I have safely returned to ECNU just now form Beijing and am ready for class tomorrow. I am planning a Holloween post and a Beijing retrospective some time this week so keep your eyes open for those.
I have arrived in Beijing safe and sound and am currently sitting in my hotel room at the Beijing Penta Hotel. I went via high spead train which is an experance I can wholely recomend. It is really interesting to go from rural countryside to a development of what seems like 50 identical highrise buildings so quickly. If you are taking the train, don't do what I did and buy food on the train. China Rail's food is both expensive and bad.
The University has orgnized a fieldtrip to Beijing. We are leaving today at 7:45AM. I have post or two planned but will see if the train stations even have internet. I will see y'all in Beijing.
I landed Chicago with just enough time to take off for Shanghai. Got some water and a pen though.
